The Representatives of the Member Companies of the Retail Association Underwent Training on Personal Data Protection issues

Next meeting was held with the representatives of the member companies of the Retail Association to discuss the changes introduced by the new law "On Personal Data Protection."

The purpose of the meeting was to inform the business sector about the terms, grounds for data processing, principles, Rights of Data Subjects, issues related to processing data for the purposes of direct marketing and other important changes outlined in the new law "On Personal Data Protection".

Archil Javelidze, the Head of the Private Sector Oversight Department and Nino Katamadze, the senior lawyer of the same department provided insights into the changes during the meeting.

Approximately 25 representatives from member companies of the association attended the session. Where they had the opportunity to seek clarification on relevant issues directly from the department's representatives. Representatives of the private sector process a large amount of personal data within the scope of their activities. Accordingly, raising awareness of the data protection issues envisaged by the new legislative act will significantly improve the standard of personal data protection and contribute to the development of a unified policy on their part.

It's noteworthy that the Retail Association brings together major data processors such as "Goodwill," "Carrefour," "Nikora," "Spar," "AgroHub," "Magnit," "Gulf Store," "Daily," "Domino," "Zgapari," and others. Before the implementation of the law, the service actively continues conducting meetings with various target audiences.
