Within the framework of the EU project - "Support to External Security Sector Oversight in Georgia," a two-day training was held for employees of the Personal Data Protection Service of Georgia and representatives of law enforcement agencies.

The meeting was opened by the President of the Personal Data Protection Service of Georgia, Prof. Dr. Dr. Lela Janashvili, and the Head of the EU project, Mr. Johan Homes, with a welcome speech.

Jekaterina Macuka, Director of the Data Inspectorate of Latvia and EU expert, spoke about the basic requirements related to personal data protection for law enforcement agencies and the best practices of EU countries. The participants of the meeting exchanged opinions on existing challenges and ways to solve them. 

The EU project, among other things, serves to strengthen the protection of personal data in law enforcement agencies. Within the framework of the project, it is planned to develop training programs and information materials to support the creation of a mechanism for sharing the experience of the personal data protection supervisory authorities of the EU member states.
