Global Privacy Assembly Published an Interview with Prof. Dr. Dr. Lela Janashvili, the President of the Personal Data Protection Service of Georgia.

In the scope of the interview, the President of the Service spoke about the new Law of Georgia “On Personal Data Protection”, the issue of obtaining the status of an observer of the activities of the "European Data Protection Board" by the Personal Data Protection Service of Georgia and various aspects of the activities of the Service.

Prof. Dr. Dr. Lela Janashvili emphasized the activities carried out by the Service to promote international cooperation with counterpart data protection supervisory authorities, the establishment of a periodical scientific journal by the Service to provide a discussion platform, as well as the Service's future international activity — hosting the annual conference of "Central and Eastern European Data Protection Authorities".

Within the interview, the President of the Service, together with the various initiatives implemented by the Service to raise public awareness, also highlighted the experience of being a member of the "Global Privacy Assembly”. As a member of the Assembly, the Personal Data Protection Service of Georgia actively participates in the formation of the global data protection policy and is an active contributor to leading industry discussions.

 

In conclusion, Prof. Dr. Dr. Lela Janashvili expressed the readiness of the Personal Data Protection Service of Georgia to actively continue cooperation in order to advance the implementation of the Assembly's goals and action plan.
