The President of the Personal Data Protection Service of Georgia Held a Public Lecture for the Students of Alte University

The President of the Personal Data Protection Service, Prof. Dr. Dr. Lela Janashvili, held a public lecture for the students of Alte University on the topic: Protection of Personal Data in the Scope of Modern Global Challenges. The meeting was initiated by the Joint Centre for Law and Economics of the Tbilisi State University and the Alte University.

The public lecture was attended by undergraduate and graduate students of the university, as well as, representatives of the academic circle.

Prof Dr. Dr. Lela Janashvili focused on the importance of protecting personal data, especially in the scope of technological progress. The President of the Personal Data Protection Service emphasized that daily activities and services received in real life or online require sharing of personal data. This process also contains risks. Therefore, every citizen should be familiar with the information about who and for what purpose requires and how they process this data.

Prof. Dr. Dr. Lela Janashvili also provided information to the students about the Personal Data Protection Service, explaining that the Service supervises the execution of the personal data protection regulatory legislation and controls the legality of data processing in Georgia. She discussed the mandate, activities, functions and legal arrangement of the Service. She also discussed some interesting cases.
