In Italy, in Rome, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Italian personal data protection supervisory authority - Garante per la protezione dei dati personali, and the Georgian Personal Data Protection Service. The memorandum was signed by the President of the Italian Personal Data Protection Supervisory Authority - Prof. Pasquale Stanzione, and the Head of the Georgian Personal Data Protection Service - Prof. Dr. Dr. Lela Janashvili. The cooperation aims to organize joint events, conferences, seminars, and exchanges of experts focused on sharing best practices in the field of personal data protection.  

At the event, Prof. Dr. Dr. Lela Janashvili spoke about the participation of the Personal Data Protection Service in international platforms and networks and noted the cooperation between the counterpart supervisory bodies in this direction, which is important for the international institutional recognition of the Personal Data Protection Service. The President of the Italian Personal Data Protection Authority, Prof. Pasquale Stanzione, spoke about the opportunity for close cooperation with the Georgian Personal Data Protection Service within the framework of the Memorandum.

The signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Cooperation was attended by the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Georgia to the Republic of Italy - Konstantine Surguladze, the Consul - Natalia Kordzaia, and the Chair of consultative committee of the Convention 108 - Alessandra Pierucci.

After the signing ceremony, a working meeting was held between the representatives of the personal data protection supervisory bodies of Italy and Georgia, which was attended by the First Deputy Head of the Personal Data Protection Service, Dr. Otar Chakhunashvili, and the Head of the International Relations, Analytics and Strategic Development Department, Ana Tokhadze.
