Dr. Otar Chakhunashvili, First Deputy Head of the Personal Data Protection Service, and Davit Karashvili, Head of the Legal Department, attended the presentation concerning the research "Assessment of the Relationship of the Parliament of Georgia with Independent Institutions and Regulatory Bodies".

As Dr. Otar Chakhunashvili noted at the meeting, although the research was conducted from November 2021 to February 2022, it is still relevant for the newly established Personal Data Protection Service, as it contains interesting findings and beneficial recommendations.

In his speech, Dr. Otar Chakhunashvili also stressed the importance of the new draft law on "Personal Data Protection" and noted that its adoption will increase the standard of personal data protection in the country and bring it closer to the leading European regulations.

The event was opened by the Chairman of the Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili.

The new research, published by the European Union, the United Nations Development Program, and the Westminster Foundation for Democracy, examines the Georgian Parliament's institutional relationship with independent regulators and oversight bodies.
