To raise awareness on personal data protection issues among the young generation, the Personal Data Protection Ambassadors held informational meetings with up to 150 students and schoolchildren. The meetings were held in the regions of Samtskhe-Javakheti and Samegrelo and focused on informing the local population, introducing their rights and the importance of personal data protection.

In the course of the meetings, the Personal Data Protection Ambassadors discussed important issues such as protection of personal data, lawful processing of personal data and the impact of unlawful collection, use, dissemination or other forms of data processing on young people’s lives, protection of special categories of data, powers of the State Inspector’s Service in the field of personal data protection etc.

Six informational meetings held throughout the last three months with schoolchildren and students were led by the Personal Data Protection Ambassadors, Donari Londaridze and Tamar Zhvania. The events in the Samtskhe-Javakheti Region were conducted at the invitation of the non-governmental organizations, “We 4 Education” and “Network of Centers for Civic Engagement,” Akhaltsikhe Office.

Increasing access to information is especially relevant in the regions. To this end, in 2020, the State Inspector’s Service launched the project “Personal Data Protection Ambassadors” in the framework of which, based on a competition, up to 20 students from different higher educational institutions were selected by the Service across the whole country.

The awareness-raising events with the participation of the young ambassadors are being held periodically and will actively continue in the future.
