The State Inspector’s Service Delivered a Public Lecture to the representatives of the Batumi Navigation Teaching University

The State Inspector’s Service delivered a public lecture on personal data protection issues to the staff and the students of the Batumi Navigation Teaching University. The meeting was conducted at the request of the Teaching University.

Teaching establishments process big volumes of personal data to carry out their responsibilities and provide service to students. Therefore, knowledge gained in the course of the public lecture will assist the participants to ensure a high standard of personal data protection and to prevent violations.  

The public lecture touched upon the importance of the protection of personal data and existing challenges in this field. In the frame of the public lecture, the audience was provided with the information on the rules established by the law on personal data processing and the relevant practice of the Service.

The meeting was led by the Deputy Head of the Public Sector Oversight Department, Archil Javelidze and a lawyer, Lika Taniashvili. The public lecture was conducted in an interactive format, the participants had a chance to get answers to questions interesting to them.

 Close cooperation with educational institutions, sharing information and experience is one of the key priorities of the State Inspector’s Service.
