Londa Toloraia Met with the Acting Resident Representative of the UNDP

During the meeting, the parties discussed ongoing joint initiatives aimed at institutional development of the State Inspector’s Service with the support of the UNDP, strengthening national personal data protection mechanisms in the country and raising public awareness. Tamar Zubashvili and Mariam Tutberidze from the State Inspector’s Service and UN Development Programme also attended the meeting.
The State Inspector, Londa Toloraia briefed Anna Cheryshova on the achievements of the past year and the related implemented reforms. Also, current challenges in the field of data protection in the country, including the importance of adopting the draft law on Personal Data Protection and measures to be taken to establish high standards in this regard were covered.

The Acting Resident Representative of the UN Development Programme positively assessed the activities of the State Inspector’s Service that were carried out in 2020. She also noted that due to technological developments, the importance of personal data protection and the role of the Service in the process is increasing day by day. Furthermore, the importance of personal data protection was discussed from the perspective of protecting the rights of ethnic minorities and eliminating gender-based discrimination.
Anna Chernyshova underlined the fundamental role of the State Inspector’s Service in the field of human rights and pledged full support to the State Inspector’s Service in the process of future institutional strengthening.
