The State Inspector Londa Toloraia Attended the Presentation of the Handbook on European Data Law and E-Learning Course

The Council of Europe in cooperation with the State Inspector’s Service presented the Handbook on European Data Protection Law and HELP online course on data protection and the right to privacy to the public.

During the event, the State Inspector Londa Toloraia addressed to the guests: “Today a very important training course is being launched. The training course will be available for the staff of the State Inspector’s Service, as well as for those employees of the other institutions, who monitor the personal data protection. The course will help us to further bring our work in compliance with international standards and that our day-to-day work is fully compatible with the European standards”. 

Cristian Urse, Head of the Council of Europe office in Georgia and Sophio Kiladze, Chair of the Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee of the Parliament of Georgia, highlighted the importance of the training course.

The event was attended by the representatives of the private and public sectors, around 100 lawyers from the civil society, also the representatives of the Council of Europe and data protection supervisory authority of France.

The Handbook on European Data Protection Law and HELP training course describe European standards of data protection and review the Court cases. Through the translation and publication of these tools the Council of Europe and the State Inspector’s Service aim to raise awareness of Georgian lawyers working in the field of data protection and to improve the relevant practices.

The presentation was followed with the discussion about international legal instruments in the field of personal data protection and their impact on Georgia.

The event was held within the frames of the Council of Europe project “Strengthening Data Protection in Georgia” in cooperation with the State Inspector’s Service of Georgia.
