The State Inspector Londa Toloraia Opened the Seminar “Safeguarding Privacy In The Media”

“Safeguarding Privacy in the Media” – a two-days seminar for the representatives of the media was held. The seminar was organized by the State Inspector’s Service and the Council of Europe. The State Inspector, Londa Toloraia opened the event. During the meeting with the representatives of media, the State Inspector highlighted the importance of personal data protection and raising awareness in this regard.  Londa Toloraia discussed the activities and future plans of the service with the attendees, particularly, the new draft “Law on Personal Data Protection”.   

Bertil Cottier, Professor at the University of Lugano, the Council of Europe invited expert discussed the balance between he freedom of expression and public interest with the participants.

Besites, the Council of Europe invited expert and Executive Director of publishing House “Indigo”, Nata Dzvelishvili discussed issues related to the aspects of safeguarding privacy in Georgia, obtaining consent, covering of crimes and minors to the representatives of the Media.

The publication “Guidelines on Safeguarding Privacy in the Media” was distributed to the participants. The Guidelines were prepared by the Council of Europe.
