The Representative Of The State Inspector Service Took Part “In Internet Governance Forum”

Considering the recommendation regarding the internet governance by the Council of Europe, Internet Society and secretariat of UN Internet Governance Forum, the 5th “Internet Governance Forum (GeoIGF)” was held in Tbilisi.

Within the frames of the forum, the Head of Law Enforcement Sector Oversight Department, Giorgi Mindiashvili discussed the new draft Law on Personal Data Protection. Giorgi Mindiashvili provided the attendees with the information about the amendments and changes introduced by the new draft law. After the speech, the representative of the State Inspector’s Service addressed the questions raised by the audience.

The topics of the 5th Internet Governance Forums were the following: the challenges of broadband coverage for Georgia and implementation of 5G technology; Content and Intellectual property rights online; online media regulations and protection of children from harmful influence; so called internet of things (IoT), personal data protection, etc.

GeoIGF is based on the multi-stakeholder principle that means involvement of the representatives public and private sectors, academia and technology fields.
