The State Inspector Held a Meeting with The Minister of Internal Affairs

The State Inspector, Londa Toloraia held a meeting with the Minister of Internal Affairs, Vakhtang Gomelauri. During the meeting, the State Inspector introduced the main directions of the State Inspector Service’s and ongoing reforms in detail to the Minister. Additionally, the Inspector informed the Minister on the work carried out to ensure comprehensive entry into force of its investigative functions.

Londa Toloraia highlighted the challenges regarding entry into force of the new investigative power, as well as the importance and the forms of cooperation between the State Inspector’s Service and the Ministry of Internal Affairs.  The State Inspector’s Service exercises investigative power since 1 of November 2019. According to the amendments, the State Inspector’s Service shall investigate the crimes committed by a representative of law-enforcement authorities, by an official or a person equal to an official committed against human rights and freedoms. The parties expressed their readiness for further cooperation.
