Meeting with the Representatives of UNICEF

The State Inspector, Londa Toloraia and the Deputy State Inspector, Giorgi Gamezardashvili held the meeting with the Representative of UNICEF Ghassan Khalil, Milena Harizanova, Chief of Data Protection Programmes and Teona Kuchava, Chief of Juvenile Justice Programme. The representatives of UNICEF congratulated to the State Inspector and the Deputy State Inspector on commencement of activities within the frames of the respective positions.

 

The Inspector provided information regarding ongoing and future plans to the representatives of UNICEF. Within the frames of the meeting, it was highlighted that the State Inspector’s Service envisages to actively work in the area of juvenile data protection. Further, the parties discussed the challenges accompanied to the anticipated entry into force of investigative powers of the Service and the necessities of retraining of investigators in the field of juvenile justice.

As Ghassan Khalil noted, the mandate of the State Inspector’s Service encompasses very important fields and the UNICEF will actively cooperate with the Service in these areas. Ghassan Khalil expressed his readiness to assist the Service in the activities aimed to enhance juvenile data protection, as well as in terms of retraining and enhancing of investigators in the field of juvenile justice.

Milena Harizanova, Chief of Child Protection Programme, discussed disclosure of minor data in media and raising awareness in this area by the State Inspector’s Service.

The parties agreed on the mutual cooperation projects and activities.
