Modern technologies and challenges in the area of data protection – The Inspector’s Office participated in the meeting of the Berlin Group

The International Working Group on Data Protection in Telecommunications met for the 60th time in Berlin. Issues of teaching internet-platforms, processing of biometric data, existing challenges in the era of smart devices were discussed on the meeting. The meeting was attended by experts from state agencies and data protection supervisory authorities, including Georgian data protection authority, represented by Salome Bakhsoliani and Nino Sarishvili.

The Office of the Personal Data Protection Inspector became the member of the Berlin Group on March 21, 2016. The aim of the group is to elaborate recommendations to improve data protection in telecommunications, including internet. The group consists of data protection authorities, as well as other public agencies, international organizations and experts from all over the world.
