On June 23, 2016, workshop on personal data protection was organized by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) with the participation of various state agencies.

The goal of the meeting was to discuss data protection issues in the working process of the ICRC, since the organization’s activities are largely related to personal data processing.

The meeting was attended by staff members of the Office of the Personal Data Protection Inspector, as well as the Inspector Tamar Kaldani, who spoke about the Council of Europe Convention 108 and data protection regulations in Georgia, problems which were revealed in practice and importance of legislative amendments. She also responded to questions from the audience.

“We always express readiness to cooperate with different organizations and to provide them with consultations on data protection, in order to reduce facts of violations of human rights in Georgia, as well as to establish the correct data processing practice,” Kaldani said.

The head of the ICRC delegation in Georgia, Biljana Milosevic, expressed her gratitude to Tamar Kaldani for sharing her experience and providing recommendations. She said that the ICRC will continue close cooperation with the representatives of different bodies, in order to protect personal data during their working process.
