Public Lecture on Personal Data Protection was Held at the University of Georgia

On March 15, 2016, representative of the Office of the Personal Data Protection Inspector, Mr. Dimitri Gugunava carried out a public lecture on personal data protection related issues at the University of Georgia. Importance of personal data protection and data subjects’ rights were the main topics of the lecture.

Mr. Gugunava discussed personal data protection legislation, functions and mandate of the Inspector in details. Meeting was very interactive; students posed questions on publishing data in social networks, data subjects’ rights, means to address the Inspector and challenges pertaining to data protection in Georgia.

Aim of the public lecture was to raise awareness of students on the importance of personal data protection. Inspector’s Office continues holding public lectures for increasing level of information among students on data protection.
