Training for Staff of Central Election Commission on Personal Data Protection Related Issues was Finished

Training cycle, led by the Training Manager of the Inspector’s Office, Mrs. Natalia Mikeladze, for the staff of Central Election Commission of Georgia (CEC) on personal data protection issues ended on March 1, 2016. Trainings were carried out in three stages and were attended by staff of different units of the CEC being responsible for issuing public information.

Training addressed the Law of Georgia on Personal Data Protection, legal grounds and principles of data processing, as well as special regulations of data processing. Mrs. Natalia Mikeladze introduced functions and mandate of the Office of Personal Data Protection Inspector to the audience. Data subjects’ rights and Inspector’s authority to supervise data processing were also discussed. Questions posed by the participants of the training related to balancing right to personal data protection and access to public information.

“High volume of personal data is processed at the CEC, which is accessed by CEC staff daily. Therefore, training and provision of information on data protection to CEC staff carried particular importance. We have discussed practical aspects of data protection deriving from CEC activities” – Stated Mrs. Natalia Mikeladze.

The Office of Personal Data Protection Inspector continues trainings for different public and private organizations.
