The Office of Personal Data Protection Inspector became a member of Global Privacy Enforcement Network (GPEN)

On December 16, 2015 the Office of Personal Data Protection Inspector became a full member of Global Privacy Enforcement Network (GPEN).

The purpose of the network is to deepen cooperation between member states in the sphere of personal data protection. GPEN actively works to facilitate enforcement of privacy legislation and to raise awareness on data protection in the member states.

GPEN membership is an important platform and an opportunity to gain comprehensive information about ongoing processes in data protection field in the world, to be part of discussions and to introduce data protection reforms undertaken in Georgia to partner countries.

GPEN was established pursuant to 2007 Recommendation adopted by Governments of the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). GPEN members include data protection supervisory authorities of the United Kingdom, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Poland, Czech Republic, Estonia, Lithuania, Albania, Canada, New Zealand, China, Australia and other states.
