The seminar on personal data protection and migration for media representatives

On October 10-11, 2015 the Office of the Personal Data Protection Office with the financial support of the ICMPD carried out seminar on Personal Data Protection and Migration for media representatives. The seminar was attended by 20 journalists and producers of different media outlets.

During the seminar representatives of the Office of the Personal Data Protection Inspector stressed the importance of the personal data protection, existing challenges and activities of the Office carried out during past two years. The Deputy Inspector, Mr. Nikoloz Bregvadze talked about the legislative initiatives of the Inspector, citizens’ complaints, the results of the conducted inspections and achievements in the area of data protection.

The Personal Data Protection Inspector, Mrs. Tamar Kaldani overviewed the reforms carried out for the improvement of the privacy standards in the country. Besides, she introduced the mandate and functions of the Inspector in the process of control over covert investigational activities.

During the engaging discussion the representatives of the Office of the Personal Data Protection Inspector answered the questions related to the video surveillance, direct marketing and social networks.

The second day of the training was dedicated to the activities of the visa-liberalization action plan and migration issues.
