On 20-21-22 November 2017, the staff of the Personal Data Protection Inspector of Georgia held meetings with the local non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Batumi, Kutaisi and Zugdidi. The meetings aimed to inform the representatives of NGOs about the mandate of Personal Data Protection Inspector, personal data protection legislation and practice, and also to discuss prospects of co-operation with the civil society.

The meetings focused on actual issues of personal data protection. Discussions also took place where the representatives of NGOs had the possibility to speak about the cases in practice and receive answers to the questions of their interest.

The meetings were held with the assistance of the EU and Office of High Commissionaire for Human Rights (OHCHR) joint project “Human Rights for All”, which aims to support protection of human rights in Georgia.

The enhancement of personal data protection is one of the priorities of the joint initiative of the European Union (EU) and United Nations “Human Rights for All”. The three-year programme supports the implementation and monitoring of the National Human Rights Strategy and Action Plan of Georgia.
