The European Conference of Data Protection Authorities was held

On May 18-20, 2015 the ICO – the UK’s Information Commissioner’s Office hosted the European Conference of Data Protection Authorities in Manchester.

The theme of this year’s conference was “Navigating the Digital Future- let’s get practical!” and it focused on implementation of personal data protection mechanisms in practice. Representatives of 40 data protection authorities and more than 100 experts participated in the conference.

The conference discussed research carried out across Europe on the citizens’ behavior and attitude toward personal data protection. Elaboration of special recommendations and guidelines for data controllers was also underlined. Particular attention was paid to the awareness raising issues.

“This conference is a good opportunity to discuss common issues. It gives us the possibility to learn the work of our colleagues on personal data protection and their approaches toward specific issues”-stated Tamar Kaldani.

Next meeting of the European Data Protection Authorities will be held in Hungary in 2016. Georgia became a member of the European Conference of Data Protection Authorities’ in 2014.
