The 28th Spring Conference on Personal Data Protection is taking place in Tirana

Reinforcement of oversight mechanisms, territorial scope of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), modernization of the Council of Europe Convention 108, protection of personal data in law enforcement sector and the judiciary – the Conference of European Data Protection Authorities is taking place in Tirana, Albania. The Personal Data Protection Inspector, Tamar Kaldani and the Deputy Inspector, Nikoloz Bregvadze are representing Georgia at the conference.

Tamar Kaldani, together with her Italian, British and Finnish colleagues, as well as the representative of the EU Fundamental Rights Agency, took part in the discussion panel dedicated to the enhancement of oversight mechanisms on surveillance. The Inspector shared with her colleagues Georgian practice and experience in this regard.

In addition, within the framework of the annual Spring Conference, discussions were dedicated to the most important developments and issues in the field of personal data protection, including the territorial scope of the General Data Protection Regulation of EU (GDPR), modernization of the Convention 108, protection of personal data in law enforcement sector and the judiciary. Participants will also discuss personal data protection in humanitarian activities, the challenges faced by the data protection authorities, etc.

The 28th Conference of the European Data Protection Authorities is hosted by the Office of Information and Data Protection Commissioner of Albania.
