Oversight of the Security Services – Georgian delegation gets acquainted with the Belgian experience

Georgian delegation is visiting Brussels to study the mechanisms of oversight of security services and share the best practices of the Kingdom of Belgium. Personal Data Protection Inspector Tamar Kaldani and the Deputy Personal Data Protection Inspector Nikoloz Bregvadze are attending the meetings. Chairperson of the Legal Issues Committee of the Parliament of Georgia Eka Beselia and the First Deputy Minister of Justice of Georgia Alexander Baramidze are also part of the Georgian delegation.

Within the framework of the visit, Georgian delegation is meeting with the President of the House of Representatives of the Belgian Parliament, the members of the Standing Committee I, the representatives of General Intelligence and Security Service and the members of the Parliamentary Monitoring Committee that oversees the activities of the Standing Committee I.

The visit is taking place within the framework of the EU and the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) joint project “Human Rights for All”, which envisages support to the implementation and monitoring of the National Human Rights Strategy and Action Plan of Georgia.
